For international students who love children and would like to study English in New Zealand, but are on a tight budget, this program is for you! Designed in conjunction with our partner school, our program is one of the best ways to experience the Kiwi culture, and will give you the opportunity to practice your English even after school!
What you can expect
The program is either a 12 or 24 week English course with an Au Pair job placement. You’ll live with a host family for 10 to 20 hours a week, and they will provide you accommodation and meals. In that time, you will have to do light chores around the house and care for their children, bringing them to school and picking them up after, for a small allowance of NZ$50.
Our partner has three different programmes with English classes available in three different Parts of New Zealand –
- Takapuna Beach (Auckland)
- Palmerston North
The English programme is designed to push your skills to its limits. Don’t worry though, the school staff are friendly, and have many fun and exciting ways of helping you learn, including using games during lessons.
In your free time, you’ll be able to study English, or go out with newfound friends, where you can put the English you’ve learnt to use. You can go swimming, surfing or even just take a walk along the Takapuna coastline to appreciate its natural beauty. Or you could visit the Public Library in Palmerston North, as well as the City Square Garden Park, which is surrounded by shops, cafes and restaurants from many different cultures.
The only requirements to qualify for this are to be an international student aged between 18 and 30, have some childcare experience, and you have to be holding a New Zealand Working Holiday Visa.
The best part is, you don’t have to worry about having issues adjusting or finding your way around! There will be an airport transfer on arrival, and you’ll be provided with a 2degrees phone sim card with NZ$10 credit, as well as assistance applying for an IRD (NZ tax number) and opening a bank account.
We also offer a support programme for our students that includes free orientation, fun regular outings and events, a First-Aid Course, on-going support from an educational mentor, and you’ll be able to get in touch with other Au Pairs. So you never have to worry about dealing with any issues alone, as there will always be someone you can turn to.
So what are you waiting for? Apply for your New Zealand Working Holiday Visa, and join our program now!
