Have you ever imagined yourself winning a free scholarship for 2 weeks to anywhere in the world? Well, now you can start thinking where you could go. Room in the Moon, a travel startup has a simple competition where you could be winning flights, accommodation, language course and £300 in cash and the only thing that you need to do is to share what you know about the cities you’ve been or lived.
To enter the competition is very simple: you sign up to the website (www.roominthemoon.com ), complete your profile and start sharing posts. The focus of the website is to provide information about cities for those planning to live there, so your info will help those planning to move there. Similar to TripAdvisor but focusing on information for people who want to live in the country, not just tourism.
You can share photos, videos and text. Each post gives you 1 point and each new friend you make is also 1 point. On 31/12/14 we will announce the winner on our website. Does it sound to be good to be true? Well, it is!
Room in the Moon connects people who are moving to the same city or country so people have a friend as soon as they arrive in the new city. For example, if you are Chilean moving to Australia and someone in Canada is also moving to Australia, the website suggests for you two to connect so you can start your friendship before you move to Australia, this way people don’t feel lonely once they move, one of the biggest challenges faced by people going to a country.
“When you move abroad, or even within your own country and you don’t know anyone it can be very challenging, lonely and boring’ says Rafael (the founder), ‘we want to minimize these feelings by introducing people before they even board the plane’. Rafael went through this tough experience back in 2001 when he move to London and had only 1 friend that worked part time and studied full time. Rafael liked London so much that 12 years on he is now launching this social travel website so people have a happier experience when moving to a new city.
The startup was founded by Brazilian entrepreneur Rafael dos Santos, 33, who moved from Sao Paulo to London in 2001 and co-founder Mario Altimari, an Italian developer who lived in Ukraine.
Start sharing and good luck!
