I considered taking a gap year because I did not know what I wanted to do when I finished high school. And I chose the adventure leadership program (ALP) because I wanted to do something different and out of my comfort zone. I also really wanted to travel!
My biggest learning from ALP would be confidence. With confidence you can do just about anything. I use confidence everyday all day, even just with speaking to people or large groups.
This course inspired me to get out of my comfort zone and try new things. Whether it be abseiling off a rock or traveling around the world!
My first job after this program was at a summer camp in America. This was the beginning of my adventures! I loved everything about my job! Meeting loads of new people from around the world, teaching different activities to children and adults and getting to explore America.
After working at summer camp in America, I travelled around the east coast to Chicago, Miami, Washington, D.C. And New York City.
I am currently working in another summer camp in Vietnam! I teach a range of activities from water sports, high ropes, fishing and land sports. It is the only summer camp in Vietnam and I get to experience the different cultures and I love it!!
