Program description

These centres are governed by either the government or by non-government organizations. The centers have 20 to 30 children at a time. The special needs teachers over there are responsible instructing and teaching them the basic interaction and responding in communicating in society. The centers for disabled children are underfunded and in great need of resources and teaching material. The age range of the children/young adults attending the school is from 4 years to 50 years. They all have varying degrees of physical and mental disabilities.

Volunteer Duties

- Aiding teachers in the classroom

 

- Organising games and activities

 

- Supervising children

 

Some ways in which we help is:

 

- Psychomotor skills activities (Walk, Body and limb movement, Neck movement, Finger movements and others)

 

- Playing games with them for developing their mind and body (Puzzles, Indoor & outdoor games, sports)

 

- Art and craft

 

- Helping the local staff in daily operations like record maintenance, food preparation etc

 

- Helping the children in having meals during lunch

Your accommodation

You will be living in the gorgeous town of Fort Kochi in our volunteer house with other volunteers. All rooms are shared and will have fans and en-suite bathrooms. For those who want to upgrade, the option of private accommodation will also be available at an extra cost. Your volunteer home will have a lounge area, dining area and comes equipped with WiFi. For your safety we have fire extinguishers, security cameras, first aid box, and a safe in our office which is in the premises as well. In general Fort Kochi where your home is a very safe residential as well as tourist area with low crime rates. You will be walking distance to ATMs, supermarkets, local cafes and restaurants, shopping as well as hospitals.

Payment
A deposit of 300 € must be paid 7 days after sending your reservation and then the balance must be sent to us no more than 12 weeks before the start of your project.
For stays in less than 12 weeks: the full amount must be paid to confirm the reservation. 

Cancellation

A 50% deposit is required for booking. Balance payment is due 4 weeks prior to departure. In case of cancellation before start date, all fees will be refunded, except the deposit. In case of cancellation after start date, there will be no refund.

Secondly we develop unique and safe travel packages that offer learning, adventure and fulfilment to any traveller coming to India.

- 24/7 support for all participants. We have an in country emergency helpline also.

 

- Full health and safety training on arrival. We have a list of nearest embassies and medical centers.

 

- All our in field staff are well trained, always travel with the volunteers on project site, and fluent in the local language.
